IPPF Advocates Sex Ed for Ten-Year Olds
I was kinda flabbergasted when I read about this. The International Planned Parenthood Federation has completed a report that they say takes a comprehensive “look at the lives of young people, their needs for comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services, and their desires, in a global context.” Here are some quotes:
- Each religion or faith must find a way of explaining and providing guidance on issues of sex and sexual relationships among young people, which supports rather than denies their experiences and needs.
- Young people have the right to privacy, which is essential to the exercise of sexual autonomy
- Young people have the right to access information and education about sexual rights, sexual orientation, sexuality, social relationships and gender identity
- Invest in youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health programmes and services
- Make comprehensive sexuality education mandatory in school and invest in multi-sectoral sexuality education programmes to reach out-of-school youth
To be fair, these are primarily geared to Third-World nations and deal with issues such as forced marriages and rapes, but it will not be long before the US Planned Parenthood takes hold of these recommendations and implements them here. You read the entire report here.
