To Serve and Protect…
The main reason I started this blog is to provide an Internet site for my class at BBC as we studied basic Christian doctrine.
But the main reason I started the class was to help build a foundation of Christian beliefs that would both equip you as you venture into the mission fields and innoculate you against the attacks of non-believers.
To that end, I want to make you aware of a blog I have been reading, Debunking Christianity. I will place a link to it so you can check it out on your own.
First, one of the primary purposes of the blog is to drive sales of John W. Loftus’ book, Why I Became an Atheist. But coming in a close second is his desire to “cure” us of our delusions known collectively as Christianity.
I would suggest everyone try to spend a little time on his site. He has many wonderful posts detailing multiple arguments against faith, almost always coming from the position of either no physical evidence (for a non-physical God) or evidence from lack of experience. He also links to many wonderful YouTube videos where Christians are portrayed as either brainless or brain-washed.
I know what the Bible says:
For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:18
For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Romans 1:21
I know that the Christian thing to do is to pray for their redemption, not ridicule their follies. However, I also know that proof is different than persuasion. I do not believe this man or any of his followers can become Christians short of God changing their hearts.
As you enter your mission fields, you will eventually run into one or more like this. If this thought causes you fear or worry, I’d suggest visiting his site. I found his arguments to be lucid and well thought out, despite the fact that they are coming from pre-suppositions the opposite of ours.
I will warn you that, while the owner’s posts are polite and clean, some of the comments on his posts are not.
